This morning

While at the gate before school and just before the heavy downpour I took this photo… I like the way  the rainbow and the sunlit Tower appear in one shot

The secret door

Thanks everyone for all the sentences. I will announce the winners next week.

The secret door

Can you tell me what is behind this door?

Year 5 have been playing chess. It is a great way to use strategic thinking skills and to try and stay one step ahead of your opponent.

There is also chess club on a Wednesday … why not go along and have a go?

The children in Y1 have been using Numicon to help with their maths. The children are making great progress with their number skills.

Einstein’s mum said…

We all know that when we ask our children “what have you done today?” the answer is nearly always “nothing”. Try asking “what have you learnt today?” I think that you will be really surprised. Apparently this is what Einstein’s mum asked him every day after school.

Thoughts on a Friday

It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of the second week and the sun has shone nearly every day. It has been a busy week and I have taken the opportunity to get around school and visit as many classes as possible. The children are working hard and learning and using new skills in every lesson.

I have been absolutely amazed by the number of afterschool clubs that we have at our school. It is a great opportunity for children to learn new skills, make new friends and have fun. A massive thank you to all the staff who give up their time to run a club. We couldn’t do it without you.

Roald Dahl Day

It has been brilliant seeing everyone enjoy reading and hearing amazing stories today. It is no surprise that Roald Dahl is so popular with children and adults.

There is nothing as good as a good read.

Monday morning…

I have this in my office. I think it is a really good way of thinking about how we work and learn.
